PROmoting Character
The Going Pro Foundation Directors are all volunteer coaches first. They understand the importance of hard work and see first-hand the positive effects sports have on kids. After coaching together for years and repeatedly winning championships, they realized playing together only scratched the surface of what the kids could learn and experience as a team. The idea to “Play with Purpose” was born so kids can benefit from sports and teamwork while also learning to set goals, lead with integrity and give back to their communities.
Founder - Mazie Tamyo
Mazie is a volunteer coach for soccer, baseball, and basketball. She believes in challenging young athletes through competition and physical fitness while encouraging them to grow as teammates and leaders. She is dedicated to implementing life skills and positive character development into youth sports.
Co-Founder - Johnny Crittenden
Johnny grew up playing multiple sports and volunteers his time to coach baseball as well as help teams suit up for success. He has donated apparel to teams across San Diego who otherwise wouldn’t have uniforms. He leads by example and his generosity of time, talent and love of the game goes well beyond wins and losses.
Community Service Coordinator - John Pucci
John has a natural talent for coaching and motivating kids. However, his true passion is creating opportunities for the players to give back to those that are less fortunate. He teaches kids to rise above the game, and is the GPF point-of-contact for community outreach and service projects.
Athletic Director - Jeff Clark
Jeff is a well respected Naval Officer and without a doubt one of the best youth coaches in San Diego. He guarantees the development of all players that are willing to work hard and improve their game. His ability to break down skills and technique in a way that kids understand is a gift to those lucky enough to call him their coach. Jeff is the cornerstone of all GPF camps & clinics.
